The Army is creating a new breed of super-sniper to take on insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan who use innocent women and children for cover.

Until recently the Army’s regiments had an average of just four snipers each and they were taught the basics of their role within their units.
But now senior officers have decided to double the number of snipers – and to train them to a far higher standard on an intensive eight-week course at the Army’s weapons training ground in Brecon, Mid Wales, where they will learn the kind of advanced skills previously limited to units such as the SAS.

Bollocks. When it comes to immigration, “legal” is whatever the Australian people decide it is. At election time. The Howard government indicated before the last elections that they would toughen up immigration laws and the Australian voters obviously agreed.

Yusef Azard, from the National Aids Trust, said tighter controls on immigration would not necessarily have an effect on the rate of infection.
“The United States has had these sorts of strict entry restrictions on HIV for many, many years,” he said.
“It’s got the highest rate of HIV in the developed world. So it doesn’t actually do any good. People go underground. Stigma and discrimination increases in the country and makes the response to HIV all the more difficult.”
It’s got the highest rate of HIV in the developed world for a number of reasons and I very much doubt that immigrant health checks is one of them.
The BBC’s Jill McGivering says the National Aids Trust monitored policy in almost 170 countries and found that most had some sort of HIV restriction on non-nationals.

She says they can range from blanket bans to refusal in certain categories, such as residency or right to work.
Five years ago, Canada tightened its restrictions. Now foreigners applying for residency are tested and likely to be refused if they are positive.
Visitors to mainland China are refused entry if they declare themselves HIV positive on immigration health forms. Foreigners who stay for more than six months have to show evidence of a negative HIV test, our correspondent says.
Perhaps because the homosexual lobby in China is somewhat…um..weak?
Victoria’s public health officials have blamed the rise in HIV cases partly on overseas immigrants, but also on Australian residents relocating from other parts of the country.

The local prosecutor who charged three Duke lacrosse players with raping a stripper apologized to the athletes Thursday and said the North Carolina attorney general’s decision to drop the case was right.

“To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused,” Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said.

It frightens me that, in this day and age, three demonstrably innocent men can be dragged into the public square in chains and be unjustly accused, tried and convicted in the media – forcibly lynched – for a rape that never happened. There are many victims in the case of the guiltless Duke lacrosse players. And many more perpetrators who, through wishful thinking, greed, arrogance or lunacy, kept this case going long after the accused boys should have received a heartfelt apology.

But the biggest losers may be the ones you’ll never hear about. These are the genuine victims of sexual assault: women who don’t fabricate tales of brutality, or seek out the richest, whitest men to falsely accuse of forcing them into sex. Who will believe a rape victim now?

But the Duke case goes far beyond the Bryant debacle. It features a “rogue prosecutor” – as ex-Durham DA Mike Nifong was called yesterday – who visibily salivated at the notion of taking down the boys. Truth be damned.

It also benefited from a lynch culture at Duke, where 88 professors signed an ad vowing to “turn up the volume” against the falsely accused men. Due process be damned.

Worst of all, this story so neatly fit the radical agenda of our “newspaper of record,” The New York Times, that the paper disgustingly advanced the hoax on its front page, long after other media outlets had backed off.

This story is on the front page of Fox News, New York Post and CNN, nothing when I checked the New York Times homepage, must be busy wiping all that egg off and consulting with lawyers on the best way to weasel.

Remember Stanley Tookie Williams, how many petitions and mass whinings were held for this murderer, how many celebrities nagged and shed tears for this piece of crap. A fellow that was convicted and had his appeals, but that makes no difference to leftists. A street in France was named after another convicted murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

All had their due process, will leftists entertain anyone speculating that they probably killed others as well, will they entertain someone speculating that because these two are black, they must be guilty of other crimes, hell no.

Just last month a jury recommended that the killer of 9 year-old Jessica Lunsford be executed. Will some leftists be organizing petitions and mass whinings over that, I wouldn’t be surprised. But if it’s rich white males (not sure if they really are rich), no evidence, no trial, charges dropped, prosecutor wiping egg off his face and running for cover, doesn’t matter, they must have done something wrong, it’s whitey you know.
